Cdist: Next generation configuration management

von Nico Schottelius (ungleich GmbH)

Cdist is a configuration management system that runs on virtually any Linux system without installing an agent. It is written in Python, but configurations are defined in shell script. It uses ssh for secure authentication and transport.

In this talk I will show what cdist is, how to use it and what the future directions are. Furthermore I will show some real world use cases and how to setup various web application hostings within a few minutes (ruby on rails, php). cdist is a rather new configuration management system, but is already being used in a lot of software development companies to manage their infrastructure for web applications.
